NORFOLK, Va. – The 16th-ranked Old Dominion women's tennis team dropped a tough 4-3 decision to #52 Princeton on Saturday afternoon inside the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.

Doubles saw ODU (5-3) take the team point with wins at the two and three spots in the lineup. Alexandra Viktorovitch and Allison Isaacs won 6-1 at line two, while Alesya Yakubovich and Shahar Biran won 6-4 at line three for the team point.

In singles, the Monarchs took the first two matches as Sofia Johnson won 7-5, 6-4 at line two and Yakubovich won 6-4, 6-3 at line four. Princeton won a straight set match, then three three-set matches to take the dual win.

"Losing never feels good. Every year when the season is over and you reflect back, you find losses or events that seemingly needed to happen in order for something bigger to present itself," said ODU Head Coach Dominic Manilla. "This feels like that type of loss. That it will help us achieve something greater down the road. There's a lot of the season left in front of us and we are confident."

Old Dominion returns to action on March 5 hosting Kansas at noon.
