Women's Tennis Bounces Back To Top Florida State 4-1

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women's tennis team bounced back after a tough loss Saturday to knock off Florida State 4-1 on Sunday afternoon inside the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
 
This is the third win for the Monarchs this season against the Atlantic Coast Conference having defeated Wake Forest twice earlier this month.
 
"What a great bounce back win for the Monarchs today," said ODU Head Coach Dominic Manilla. "The heart of the Monarchs prevailed and I am excited for our team."
 
In doubles, ODU (5-2) took the team point with wins at the one and three spots. Sofia Johnson and Tatsiana Sasnouskaya, ranked 25th nationally, defeated Vic Allen and Anna Arkadianou 6-1 for the first win at line one. Alesya Yakubovich and Shahar Biran clinched the team point with a 6-4 win over Millie Bissett and Olympe Lancelot.
 
Singles saw the Monarchs take wins at the one, three and four spots to earn the dual win. Yakubovich started with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Ellie Schoppe at line four, while Sofia Johnson won 6-4, 6-2 at line three over Mila Saric. FSU (5-3) took the win at line two, but Sasnouskaya won a battle of nationally-ranked players at the top spot with a 7-5, 6-2 win over 78th-ranked Anna Arkadianou for the clincher.
 
ODU is back in action on Saturday hosting Princeton at 1 p.m.
