NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women's tennis team opened a home weekend on Saturday by falling 4-1 to sixth-ranked Iowa State inside the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
In doubles, the Cyclones took the team point with wins at the one and three spots in the lineup. Singles saw Iowa State take a 2-0 lead before 25th-ranked Tatsiana Sasnouskaya won the only battle of nationally-ranked players defeating 42nd-ranked Thasporn Naklo 6-0, 6-1 at line one.
"A very tough match and congrats to the coaches along with the players for Iowa State on the incredible season they've had so far," said ODU Head Coach Dominic Manilla. "Their poise during the tough moments was impressive. We had a slower than required start in doubles. There were several teachable moments for us in the doubles that I am confident we can address and fix quickly."
"I would like to express gratitude to Monarch Nation for the support we had today," Manilla added. "ODU is such a special place. We are all excited to play against Florida State tomorrow and compete as hard as we can for a win at home."
ODU (4-2) returns to action on Sunday morning hosting Florida State at 10 a.m.
