COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Old Dominion women's tennis team opened play in the ITA Kickoff Weekend Regional hosted by Ohio State on Friday and fell 4-0 to the 12th-ranked Buckeyes in the first match.
ODU (2-1) will face the loser of Wake Forest and Tennessee on Saturday evening at approximately 7 p.m. to wrap up the event.
In doubles, the Monarchs took one match at the top spot as Tatsiana Sasnouskaya and Sofia Johnson defeated Sydni Ratliff and Isabelle Boulais, 6-3.
Singles saw the Buckeyes score straight-set victories at the two, four and six spots in the lineup for the dual win.
"Congrats to Ohio State, as they were the more polished team today," said ODU Head Coach Dominic Manilla. "We had some competitive errors that are typical of early season action, but we need to learn from them and move forward. Overall, it was a good match for us to compete at this level and in this environment again," he added.
