NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion women's tennis team started their home schedule on Saturday afternoon with a 4-0 win over Columbia inside the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
In doubles, the Monarchs took wins at the one and three spots of the lineup to earn the team point. After losing at the second spot, Tatsiana Sasnouskaya and Sofia Johnson took a 6-2 win at line one over Fatima Keita and Rachele Rimondini. The team point was earned at the three spot as Alesya Yakubovich and Shahar Biran defeated Julia Haynes and Michelle Xu 6-4.
Singles saw ODU (2-0) take wins at the top three spots to lock up the dual match win. Sasnouskaya, ranked 37th nationally, defeated Anna Zhang 6-4, 6-4 for the first win. Johnson followed with a 7-5, 6-1 win at the two spot over Haynes and Biran finished with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Shivani Amineni to lock it up.
Old Dominion will now head to Columbus, Ohio for an ITA Kickoff Weekend regional hosted by Ohio State. The Monarchs will tangle with the host Buckeyes on Friday morning at 10 a.m. and will face either Wake Forest or Tennessee in day two.

Hats off to Columbia today for really pushing us. I'm happy for the team as we really had to earn the victory. There were several spots in singles that we could have secured the fourth point. Great job by our top three singles players getting across the finish line first.
There are some details that we need to work through as a group and as a team that will help us be more successful during this demanding stretch of matches that we have coming up. I'm looking forward to Ohio state, and our development on the road for the next three matches.
