Ten Newcomers Set to Join Lacrosse Team for 2023 Season

NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University lacrosse has added 10 student-athletes for the 2022-23 season. The incoming class is littered with accolades, including regional players of the year, all-state and all-American honors.
 
The class of 10 includes Brynn Bowen, Rowan Burke, Grace DePrisco, Annalynn Pompetti, Emma Rowland, Gillian Smith, Kate Stigsell, Delaney Turner, Jayme Weber and Amanda Wolfe. There are six players from Pennsylvania, two from Virginia and one each from Maryland and Wisconsin.
 
Brynn Bowen – Salem, Va./Salem/Yellow Jackets South Club Team

  • A four-year starter in goal at Salem, Bowen recorded 402 career saves. As a senior this past season, she notched 161 saves, caused 16 turnovers and had seven ground balls.
  • First-Team All-District and All-Region as a senior and named Region Player of the Year.
  • A 2021 US Lacrosse All-American.
  • Helped lead Salem to the Region 4D Championship as a freshman.
  • A Distinguished Scholar (over 4.0 GPA) 

Rowan Burke – Towson, Md./Dulaney/C2 Lacrosse Club Team

  • A four-year starter, led Dulaney in scoring twice in her career.
  • Helped the squad to a Regional Championship as a junior and to the state finals as a senior.
  • Scored 46 goals as a freshman.
  • A two-time team captain on the lacrosse team and was also team captain on the girl's soccer team.
  • Helped her club team win the 2020 Under Armour 150 Tournament.

Grace DePrisco – West Chester, Pa./Henderson/PA Express Club Team

  • A three-time All-Chesmont honoree.
  • Named to the PASLA All-Academic Team.
  • Registered 68 goals and 74 assists for 142 career points.
  • Recorded 148 career draw controls.
  • Notched 66 ground balls and caused 20 turnovers.

Annalynn Pompetti – Media, Pa./Penncrest/NXT Club Team

  • A four-year starter and two-time team captain at Penncrest.
  • Earned first-team All-Central accolades.
  • As a senior, led Delaware County in assists with 45.
  • Ranked third in Delaware County as a senior in points with 85.
  • Scored 40 goals and secured 75 draw controls.

Emma Rowland – Havertown, Pa./Haverford/Dynasty Elite Club Team

  • A two-time All-Central honoree.
  • Scored 61 goals as a senior and 51 as a junior for 112 total.
  • Named to the PASLA All-Academic Team.
  • Named lacrosse MVP as well as the tennis team MVP. Also a four-year letterwinner on the basketball team and team captain.
  • Won the science and history Highest GPA award.

Gillian Smith – Richmond, Va./James River/Yellow Jackets South Club Team

  • A three-time All-Region honoree.
  • Named Richmond Times-Dispatch Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
  • Scored 55 goals, 22 assists, 91 draw controls and 34 ground balls.
  • Selected for the US Lacrosse Senior Classic Team
  • Also played field hockey and basketball.

Kate Stigsell – Madison, Wis./Edgewood/Lakeshore Club Team

  • Earned All-State honors as a senior.
  • A two-time first-team All-Conference honoree.
  • Played in the Midwest Under Armour All-American Game.
  • Led team in scoring twice.
  • A two-time team captain.

Delaney Turner - West Chester, Pa./Henderson/PA Express Club Team

  • Selected for multiple all-star teams, including the WPLL Futures Summit, NXT Girls Philly Summer Showcase and Mike Elite 120 Lacrosse Combine.
  • A two-time All-Chestmont honoree.
  • Team captain as a senior.
  • Registered 101 goals and 36 assists in just three years.
  • A National Honor Society member.

Jayme Weber – Lansdale, Pa./Methacton/MESA Club Team

  • A three-year starter on lacrosse and field hockey squads.
  • A three-time All-Conference honoree, twice earning first-team honors.
  • Twice named first-team All-Area.
  • Twice named Team MVP.
  • Scored 145 career goals in just three years.

Amanda Wolfe – Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville/Belles Club Team

  • Earned first-team All-Chestmont as a senior.
  • Named first-team All-Area as a senior.
  • Recorded 66 goals and 42 for 108 points as a senior.
  • Registered more than 30 community service hours.
