GREENVILLE, S.C. – Old Dominion women's golfer Jana Melichova tied for 13th earlier this week at the NCAA Championships and ends the week being named a Women's Golf Coaches Association Honorable Mention All-American, the WGCA announced on Thursday.

Melichova became the first Old Dominion women's golfer to qualify for the NCAA Championships and is the first to earn All-America honors.

"We are so excited to have our first ever WGCA All-American. No matter what sport you play, being named to the All-American team is the highest honor for a collegiate athlete," ODU head coach Mallory Kane said. "Jana played well all year, especially in the postseason, where she defeated dozens of ranked opponents. Jana proved at ODU we play a quality schedule, where with enough hard work and good finishes the Monarchs can qualify for the NCAA Tournament, compete for a National Championship and earn the right to be called All-American."

Melichova began her postseason tying for third at the Conference USA Championship. She received an at-large bid to the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional where she also tied for third to move onto the NCAA Championships at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. At the Championships, Melichova shot a four-over 292 to tie for 13th.
