NORFOLK, Va. – Head coach of the Old Dominion women's golf team Mallory Kane announced today the signing of transfer Klara Wildhaber. A two-year contributor at Iowa and a Swiss international, Wildhaber will represent the Monarchs starting next season.
"We are getting a great player and an even better person," Kane said. "Klara wants to be a part of a team that loves golf and enjoys competing. She really is the perfect fit for our program. Klara is excited for the opportunity to represent ODU, and we know she will have an immediate and lasting impact on our program."
Wildhaber played in 12 rounds across four events this fall, posting a stroke average of 75.00. She saved her best performance of the fall season for her last tournament, carding a 5-over-par score of 221 to tie for 17th at the White Sands Invitational.
As a freshman in 2021, Wildhaber competed in seven tournaments and claimed five top-25s, including four top-10s. She posted a career-best 54-hole score of 219 (+3) at the Rebel Beach Invitational for a share of fifth place and tied for sixth at the shortened BYU Spring Classic. Wildhaber claimed a share of second place at the UNI Spring Invite at 7-over 223.
Wildhaber was ranked top-400 in the world when she signed with Iowa. She won the Championnat de Romande and competed in the 2019 Ladies European Team Championship, the 2018 Girls European Team Championship and the 2018 Girls World Championship. Wildhaber shot 1-over at the world championship and placed 19th. Her amateur resume also includes top-four results at the Ladies European Tour Access Series and the Belgium International, a third-place finish at the Swiss National Championship and a runner-up placing at the Ticino Championship.
