NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion will put 2023 football season tickets on sale on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m., the earliest they have been made available to the public since ODU's first season in 2009.
There will be no increase in the price of season tickets. Moreover, if you renew or purchase new tickets before midnight, Dec. 31, you will receive a $30 discount on every ticket purchased. For a family of four, that's a $120 savings.
The $30 discount isn't valid for premium seating – Luxury Suites, Priority Automotive Club, the Deck and the Cox Business Loge Lounge – but is available for the more than 14,500 other seats on the east and west sides.
With the discount, $150 season tickets will cost $120, or just $20 per game. A $20 ticket will be among the least expensive in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
Payment plans will be available, meaning that you can spread the cost over time at no extra charge.
Slated as "Renew in 22," the season-ticket sale begins Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. and extends through midnight on New Year's Eve.
All existing season-ticket holders will receive email from the Old Dominion Athletic Foundation with instructions on how to renew season tickets. To purchase new season tickets, click here on December 7 after 2 p.m.
Casey Cegles, ODU's executive senior athletic director, said tickets are going on sale much earlier than usual by popular demand.
"When we were selling season tickets last season, many fans expressed to us the desire to have the option of renewing their seats as soon after the season as possible," he said.
"We wanted to do this while football is still being played and before Christmas. Season tickets make a great Christmas present."
ODU set an attendance record this fall, averaging 20,232 per game, largely because of a season ticket base of nearly 12,500.
ODU's attendance increased in part because of a strong home schedule, the program's move to the Sun Belt Conference and a decrease in prices for thousands of season tickets.
Mandatory donations to purchase thousands of the best seats at S.B. Ballard Stadium were eliminated.
The schedule is strong again next season as the Monarchs host an ACC team for the second season in a row when Wake Forest comes to ODU on Saturday, Sept. 16.
Wake Forest won 11 games and played for the ACC title in 2021 after beating ODU in its home opener, 42-10. The Demon Deacons were beset with injuries this season but are 7-5 and headed for a bowl game.
Buffalo, which escaped with a 35-34 victory at ODU in 2021, returns a week later on Sept. 23. The Bulls are members of the Mid-American Conference.
ODU also hosts Sun Belt East Division rivals Coastal Carolina, Georgia State and Appalachian State and a Sun Belt west opponent to be named. Dates and times for those games have yet to be set.
East Division champion Coastal Carolina plays Troy for the Sun Belt championship Saturday at 3:30 on ESPN. ODU crushed Coastal, 49-21, in Conway, South Carolina earlier this season.
Cegles said ODAF will continue to mail fans the annual Game Plan, which has information on football season tickets, later this winter. However, this year's book will include information on how to renew and purchase men's and women's basketball season tickets.
"We're trying to make purchasing season tickets for all of our teams as convenient as possible," Cegles said. "Fans will have the option of renewing their season tickets while basketball is being played."
