NORFOLK, Va. – CollegeInsider.com released its updated Mid-Major Top 25 poll on Tuesday and Old Dominion women's basketball has dropped to No. 23 with 81 total points.

The Monarchs (8-5) were previously ranked No. 18, but the team dropped both of its Sun Coast Challenge games to Mississippi State and New Mexico to wrap up non-conference play on Dec. 19-20.

ODU has been on break for the holidays since that tournament and returns to action later this week with its first Sun Belt conference games of the season. The Monarchs begin league play with a 6:30 p.m. game at Appalachian State on Thursday, then travel to James Madison for a 2 p.m. game on Saturday.

The women's Mid-Major Top 25 is comprised of teams from America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, CAA, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt and West Coast Conference.

The Mid-Major Top 25 is released every Tuesday throughout the season.
