MacGillivray Named BIG EAST Defensive Player Of The Week

NEW YORK – Cam MacGillivray of the No. 13 Old Dominion Field Hockey team was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week for her performance over the weekend the conference announced Tuesday. This marks the fourth time this year she has earned the honor. 
 
MacGillivray played a crucial role in ODU securing a share for the regular season BIG EAST title. She made eight saves in the regular time and overtime in Friday's 1-0 win over Liberty. She also made an additional four saves in the penalty shootout that helped the Monarchs secure the victory 2-1 in the shootout. This marks her fifth shutout of the year; she also has two combined shutouts. MacGillivray currently ranks first in save percentage, second in the country in goals against average and third in the nation in win-loss percentage.
 
Emily Tammaro was named to the weekly honor roll as she helped secure the back line for ODU in the win and played all 60 minutes of regular time and most of the overtime.
 
The Monarchs are back in action Friday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. as they take on the Temple Owls in the BIG EAST tournament semifinals held at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex.
