WASHINGTON, D.C – The No. 13 Old Dominion Field Hockey Team defeated Georgetown 2-0 on Friday, extending their win streak to three. Aubrey Mytych and Marlon de Bruijne each scored a goal in the win.

Mytych scored the first goal of the match just eight minutes into the game as she slapped a reverse shot into the goal. ODU outshot Georgetown 8-3 in the first half but could only get the lone goal.

The Monarchs (8-2, 3-1) then extended their lead as Frederique Zandbergen assisted de Bruijne who converted the penalty corner in the fourth period.  Old Dominion had 16 shots and 10 corners in the fourth period alone but only converted on one of them.

Cam MacGillivray had no saves in today's match and she recorded her second straight shutout. ODU outshot the Hoyas 29-5 and had 16 penalty corners compared to Georgetown's one.

"Overall, it was a very solid performance from our team this afternoon, in challenging conditions on a rubber filled Georgetown turf. I'm happy with how we handled it. Georgetown are a tough, resilient team that can be dangerous. Our team worked hard throughout the game, and handled the adjustment well after practicing on a similar surface off campus this week," said head Coach Andrew Griffiths. "We attacked the outsides well, and created a boatload of shots and corners. it's difficult to put away clean chances on a surface that is unpredictable and bouncy, and such a different field to any other that we play on all season. The key thing is a conference win and another shutout for us, and we move on to play a good Delaware team on Sunday. We had some good work from across the team today, but a standout performance was Emily Tammarro, creating a lot of attack on the right side."

Old Dominion will be back in action Sunday, Oct. 9 as they will travel to take on Delaware.
