NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion women's tennis team finished action in the Sea Pines College Tournament hosted by the University of Georgia over the past weekend and came out with a few stellar performances.
"We played another strong tournament at Georgia, alongside UGA, Ole Miss, Furman and Charlotte. These are necessary matches we have to go through during the fall to prepare well for our spring season," said ODU Associate Head Coach Yana Sokolenko. "The team competed hard, learned a lot and had some good wins and some close losses in singles."
In doubles, the tandem of Allison Isaacs and Alexandra Viktorovitch went 1-1 with a win over Marissa Pennings and Alexa Griffith of Furman 6-4.
Singles action saw Shahar Biran take a three-set win over Georgia's Anastasiia Lopata 4-6, 6-2, 7-5. Viktorovitch took a 6-1, 6-2 win over Griffith and Alesya Yakubovich defeated Ellie Schulson also of Furman 7-6 (2), 2-6, 6-1.
Old Dominion will be back in action Oct. 20-24 at the ITA Regionals hosted by Virginia Tech.
