MacGillivray and Tammaro Named BIG EAST Players Of The Week

NEW YORK – The Old Dominion Field Hockey team had two players named BIG EAST Players of the Week and one named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll. Cam MacGillivray was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week and teammate Emily Tammaro was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week; Aubrey Mytych was also named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll. The conference announced this Tuesday afternoon. 
 
MacGillivray helped the Monarchs to a 4-0 victory over Villanova on Saturday. She made seven of her eight saves in the first half of the match. She was strong in goal recording her second shutout this year, the first was in a 3-0 over Columbia. MacGillivray is currently ranked first in the BIG EAST for save percentage (.823). This marks MacGillivray's second BIG EAST Defensive player of the Week honor of the year, her first came after she had a career high in saves in a 3-2 victory over Boston College.
 
Tammaro registered a pair of assists in ODU's 4-0 win over Villanova. Tammaro played stellar defense and her two assists were a career-high.
 
Mytych scored two goals in Old Dominion's 4-0 victory on Saturday. She has now scored multiple goals in the last two games she has played. The two goals against Villanova ties a season high for her. 
 
The Monarchs are back in action as they travel to Georgetown on Friday, Oct. 7 for a matchup with the Hoyas starting at 1 p.m.
