BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Old Dominion women's tennis team finished play in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Atlantic Regional this weekend and came out with a pair of good runs through the brackets at Virginia Tech.

In singles, Alesya Yakubovich advanced to the quarterfinals with three wins in the gold singles bracket. She scored wins against opponents from West Virginia (6-3, 6-4), Penn State (6-4, 1-6, 6-4) and James Madison (6-4, 6-4) before falling to Elaine Chervinsky of Virginia 6-0. 6-1.

Also advancing to the quarterfinals was Tatsiana Sasnouskaya. The second-seed in the event, Sasnouskaya started with wins over Maryland (6-1, 6-3), Virginia Tech (6-2, 6-4) and Penn State (6-3, 7-5) before a loss to Julia Adams of Virginia 6-4, 6-3.

In doubles, the tandem of Alexandra Viktorovitch and Allison Isaacs went 4-1 advancing to the semifinals. They started with a win over James Madison (8-6) and a victory over Virginia Tech (8-6). In the third round they defeated a pair from Liberty (8-5) before scoring a quarterfinal win over VCU (8-5). The semifinals saw them fall 6-1, 6-4 to Mary Brumfield and Selma Cadar of Maryland.

"We had a good showing at Virginia Tech. Every tournament we enter we expect to win, so we are disappointed on that front," said head coach Dominic Manilla. "We had chances in both the singles and doubles draws with high seeds but did not execute at the level required to go home with hardware. We did have some impressive individual performances from Alesya Yakubovich, who made the quarters in singles main draw for the first time in her career, as well as a run buy Alexandra Viktorovitch and Allison Isaacs to the semis of the doubles main draw."
