Philadelphia, PA – The No. 14 Old Dominion Field Hockey team extended their win streak to seven games with a 2-0 win over Temple on Friday. Delphine Le Jeune and Marlon de Bruijne scored the goals in the victory. The win also marks the third straight shutout giving ODU six clean sheets on the year.

Old Dominion got on the board with just under eight minutes left in the first period when Frederique Zandbergen sent in a penalty corner to Le Jeune who delivered a strike into the back of the net. Temple would add five shots of their own in the second period, but nothing would come from it as the score was 1-0 at the half.

ODU would get their second goal of the game just 2:30 into the third period when de Bruijne would convert a penalty stroke increasing the lead to 2-0. The Owls would try to mount a comeback, but Cam MacGillivray was strong in goal making multiple impressive saves to keep Temple off the board.

"It was a solid win for us, against a strong and determined Temple squad. I was particularly pleased because we had to manage some challenges with injuries throughout the game. Nicole, who is our field general at center back, sustained a back injury after 5 minutes and didn't play the rest of the game. And then Rina, one of our key central midfielders, got an elbow to the face and was also out for much of the second half," said head coach Andrew Griffiths
"We adjusted really well to move some players around and players adapted effectively. We had a number of people play in several different positions in the game, and those are excellent adjustments to be able to make at this time of the season." "The team played together as a unit, and once again we had contributions from a lot of players, including an excellent finish on a penalty corner from LJ, and a clinical goal on a penalty stroke from Marlon."

Temple outshot the Monarchs 12-6 on the day, MacGillivray had five saves.

Old Dominion is back in action Sunday, Oct. 23 for Senior Day as they take on the VCU Rams at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex starting at 12 p.m.
