NORFOLK, VA – The Old Dominion Women's Rowing team is set to compete in the Head of the Charles Regatta on Saturday, Oct. 22. The Head of the Charles Regatta takes place in Boston, Massachusetts and is the largest two day fall rowing regatta in the world.
The team will compete in two events, the Women's Club 4+ and the Women's Club 8+.
The race times go as follow:
12:43 p.m. - Women's Club 4+
1:24 p.m. – Women's Club 8+
"The Head of the Charles is a tough race to compete. The goal of the team is to make the top 50% of the field. This would guarantee an entry for the team next year. We are racing in the Club 8+ and Club 4+ events that will feature a lot of strong Division I competition from all over the country," said Head Coach Brian Conley. "If we execute and are aggressive from the first stroke to the last stroke, we should find ourselves in a good position to achieve our goal. The coxswains will play a big part in this race as there are several turns to steer. The coxswains will also need to adapt race strategy throughout the race on when to pass a crew without colliding.
I think we have made some good strides this week from our race in Philly last weekend and I am looking forward to seeing them come together in Boston."
