NORFOLK, Va. – After Saturday night's 2-1 Old Dominion men's soccer win over then fourth-ranked Marshall, a pair of men's players garnered weekly awards announced on Tuesday morning.
Michael Statham was announced on Tuesday morning as the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week after his six saves performance Saturday night. Statham, who is among the top 15 nationally in save percentage, made six stops against the Thundering Herd including a pair in the final 25 minutes as Marshall had three straight corner kick opportunities.
Samuel Mar Kristinsson was named as a member of College Soccer News' Team of The Week. His goal in the 64th minute off a feed by Louis Beckett put the Monarchs up 2-0 on Marshall. That was the first tally of the season for Mar Kristinsson.
