NEW YORK – Sacha de Gier of the Old Dominion Field Hockey team was named BIG EAST Freshman of The Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

de Gier helped the Monarchs to a weekend sweep with a 7-0 win over Providence and an 8-0 win over Queens. de Gier scored her first two goals of the weekend against Providence. Both of her goals on Friday were off rebounds that she controlled and then ripped into the back of the net. Her third goal of the weekend came when Marlon de Burijne crossed the ball in front of goal for de Gier who slapped it into the goal. de Gier is the third freshman on the team to receive this honor this year.

Aubrey Mytych and Delphine Le Jeune were also named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for their play over the weekend. Mytych scored four goals over the weekend while Le Jeune scored three goals. Mytych has now scored nine goals in the last six games for the Monarch's. Le Jeune is second on the team in goals (10) and points (22) only trailing de Brujne.
