CARY, N.C. – The Old Dominion women's tennis team sent a pair of participants to the ITA All-American Championships last week and came out with one impressive win in doubles.

The duo of Tatsiana Sasnouskaya and Sofia Johnson made the main draw in doubles where they dropped an opening round three-set match to Maria Budin and Diae El Jardi of Rice 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-3). In the consolation round, they faced the number one seeded duo from Oklahoma. Sasnouskaya and Johnson knocked out the sister duo of Ivana and Carmen Corley, who entered the event ranked second nationally, 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (14-12) to end the event with a huge win.

"It was a great tournament for Tanya and Sofia. The doubles win over the number two team in the nation from Oklahoma was a statement not only for them but our entire program," said ODU Head Coach Dominic Manilla. "Old Dominion women's tennis continues, year after year, to deliver results to Monarch Nation at the highest level. The strength and composure in which we compete is second to none. I feel fortunate every season to state that I am looking forward to what this year's team will bring to the table."

Sasnouskaya went 1-1 in singles with a straight-set win over Loudmilla Bencheikh of Alabama (6-3, 6-4) before dropping a three-set match to Sofiya Chekhylstova of Penn State (1-6, 7-5, 6-4) in the qualifying round of 16.

The Monarchs now prepare for the ITA Regionals starting October 19-24 hosted by Virginia Tech in Blacksburg.
