de Bruijne Named BIG EAST Offensive Player Of The Week

NEW YORK – Marlon de Bruijne of the Old Dominion Field Hockey team was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. 
 
de Bruijne helped lead the Monarchs (9-2, 3-1) to a pair of wins against Georgetown, 2-0 and Delaware, 5-1. de Bruijne scored three goals over the weekend, her first put ODU up 2-0 in the fourth quarter of the match at Georgetown. She continued her dominant performance over the weekend scoring two goals against Delaware. Her first goal was on a penalty corner when Frederqiue Zandbergen sent a ball into Rina Tsioles, de Bruijne then deposited the ball into the back of the net, the goal would end up being the game winner. Her second goal of the match was an unassisted strike just five minutes after her first that would extend the Monarchs lead to three. 
 
Cam MacGillivray was also named to the BIG EAST weekly Honor Roll for her performance over the weekend. She recorded her third shutout of the year in the 2-0 win over Georgetown and surrendered only one goal over the weekend which came in the 5-1 win over Delaware. She also made five saves in the game against the Blue Hens, one of them was on a penalty stroke. 
 
ODU is back in action on Friday, Oct. 14 at 2 p.m. at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex for a matchup with Providence.
