NEW YORK – Frederique Zandbergen of the Old Dominion field hockey team was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Zandbergen helped lead the Monarchs (3-1) to a pair of wins over the weekend against JMU, 6-1 and 21st ranked American, 2-1. In the victory over American, Zandbergen assisted Marlon de Bruijne with the opening goal of the match. She then scored the game-winning goal with just under five minutes left on the clock to help ODU secure the win.
ODU also jumped five spots in the NFHCA Division 1 National Coaches poll to No. 14.
Old Dominion will travel to Longwood on Wednesday, Sept. 7 for a 6 p.m. matchup with the Lancers.
