NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men's soccer team opened its home Sun Belt Conference slate against long-time rival James Madison and came away with a 0-0 draw on Sunday afternoon.

The clean sheet for the Monarchs (4-2-2, 1-0-1) is the third straight at home after a 2-0 win over Campbell and a 0-0 with William & Mary.

"We were a little off the mark in the first half and they forced the issue, though in the second half we changed that around," said ODU Head Coach Alan Dawson. "We had several chances in the second half, but the ball didn't bounce our way which happens in this game."

James Madison (3-4-1, 0-1-1) opened the game with three scoring chances in the first 25 minutes, all of which were swatted away by freshman Michael Statham. The Monarchs put together a couple chances in a seven-minute span of the half, but Tristan Jenkins' shots were stopped by Sebastien Colon.

In the second half, both teams kept peppering the cages with chances though no one could find the back of the net.

On the day, ODU outshot JMU 13-12 and held an 8-7 advantage in corners.

The Monarchs head to College Park, Maryland to take on the University of Maryland on Friday night in their final non-conference match of the season.
