HAMDEN, Conn. – The No. 13 Old Dominion Field Hockey team bounced back in a big way following a double overtime loss to UConn with a dominant victory on the road over Quinnipiac 6-1. Delphine Le Jeune and Aubrey Mytych led the Monarchs as each found the back of the net twice.

ODU (6-2, 1-1) got on the board first when Le Jeune converted a penalty stroke with just over four minutes left in the first period.

In the second period, the Monarchs broke the match open scoring three goals. Le Jeune scored her second goal of the day when Marlon de Bruijne assisted her. Mytych then extended the Old Dominion lead to three after she received a pass from Jolene Ulichney just nine minutes into the third period. The Monarchs weren't done there as Sanci Molkenboar was aided by Courtney Lynch and de Bruijne to give ODU a 4-0 lead going into halftime. The goal scored by Molkenboar was the first of her collegiate career.

Quinnipiac got on the board just two minutes into the second half when Stella Tegtmeier assisted Emilia Massarelli. Old Dominion then answered with a score of its own as Brooke Gasser dished the ball to Mytych for her second goal of the match. In the fourth period with just over nine minutes left, Le Jeune set up Frederique Zandbergen for the sixth and final goal of the day. ODU would close the game out from there, with Cam MacGillivray making seven saves to keep the Bobcats at only one goal.

The Monarchs are back in action Friday, Sept. 30 at 1 p.m. as they play host to the Villanova Wildcats at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex.

ODU Head Coach Andrew Griffths on today's match

"It was a strong step forward after playing very well but a tough loss to Connecticut. There were some real positives from today's game, aside from the score. We had goals from a variety of people and our positioning in the attacking circle was much smarter, which we have been working on this past week. It is also great to get a solid win on an away turf after a long day of travel yesterday. The team now has a few days break to recharge mid-season."
