NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion Monarchs learned of their 2022 NCAA Women's Tennis Championship location on Monday night and they're heading to Durham, North Carolina

ODU (20-6) and ranked 31st nationally will face 36th-ranked Furman (21-6), champions of the Southern Conference, on the campus of Duke. The match will be at Ambler Tennis Stadium on Friday, May 6 at 1 p.m. Host Duke (19-3) will face Quinnipiac (13-8) at 4 p.m. on Friday.  The winners will face off on Saturday for a spot in the round of 16.

"Furman is an excellent program. Our friend Adam Herendeen and his staff are amongst the best coaches in the nation. I am eager for the opportunity to face them in the NCAA Tournament," said ODU Head Coach Dominic Manilla.

This marks the fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and the third straight for the Monarchs. They won the CAA title in 2001, then earned an at-large bid in 2019, before consecutive Conference USA titles in 2021 and 2022.

Old Dominion has faced a challenging spring schedule taking on the likes of NCAA qualifiers: Florida, Miami, Pepperdine, Princeton, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Texas A&M and VCU.

The Monarchs went 1-1 at the North Carolina Regional in 2021 recording their first-ever NCAA win defeating Arkansas 4-2 before falling to the top-seeded Tar Heels.

"It's been an exciting year to be a Monarch.  Individual and team performances have been off the charts impressive. It's all culminating into the month of May," Manilla said. "Ultimately at the level we have built this program to, the Month of May is where we are measured. I am proud of this program."
