Melichova Shoots a 4-Over 76 in First Round of NCAA Championships

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Old Dominion senior Jana Melichova shot a 4-over 76 in the first round of the NCAA Championships at Grayhawk Golf Club on Friday afternoon in Scottsdale, Arizona.
 
"The golf course played very different today. The win was really gusty and the afternoon tee times definitely had the tougher draw," ODU head coach Mallory Kane said. "Jana played well for the majority of the day and is feeling good about this weekend. She is looking forward to a morning tee time tomorrow. We fully expect her to shoot a good number tomorrow and move way up the leaderboard."
 
Melichova started her round with pars on the first five holes before birdieing holes six and seven. She notched pars on the final two holes on the front nine to finish the first nine at 2-under.
 
The back nine for Melichova began with bogeys on 10 and 11 and a double bogey on the 12. She found her way back to par the next two holes but bogeyed two of the final four holes to finish in a tie for 55^th at 76.
