PHILADELPHIA – Old Dominion University women's golfers Leah Onosato and Pilar Muguruza are set to play in the prestigious PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship May 2-4 at The Union League Golf Club at Torresdale in Philadelphia.
Onosato finished in a tie for 42nd at the Conference USA Championships a week ago and completed the year with a 76.40 stroke average. Last season, Onosato earned All-Conference USA honors and an at-large bid as a singles player to the NCAA Tournament.
Muguruza placed 49th at the C-USA Championships and ended the 2021-22 campaign with a 77.43 stroke average.
The PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship (PWCC) was created in 1986 to highlight competitive golf programs at the most underserved and underrepresented Minority-Serving Institutions in the country and educate and inspire student-athletes to pursue career opportunities in the business of golf and beyond. PWCC is considered the most culturally significant championship in collegiate golf (82% of 2021 players identified as "non-white").
This is the first time in program history Old Dominion is competing in this event.
