PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Old Dominion women's rowing team competed this weekend in the 39th Memorial Murphy Cup hosted by Temple University on the Schuylkill River and came away with a fourth place showing in the varsity eights.
In its varsity eights qualifying race, the Monarchs took second in 6:33.570 just trailing Massachusetts (6:29.370). The top two in each of the three qualifying races made the Grand Final where the Monarchs came in fourth (6:33.770) trailing just Temple, Georgetown and Massachusetts.
The varsity fours went with a different lineup this week and improved upon its overall speed. They finished their qualifying heat in fourth with a 7:36.700 and didn't make the Grand Final. Their time would've placed them in the top six, but in a strong qualifying field didn't get to advance.
The Monarchs will next compete in the Kerr Cup on April 16 back in Philadelphia with Drexel University hosting.
