NORFOLK, Va. – If you're an Old Dominion fan looking for an early preview of ODU's football home opener against Virginia Tech, the Norfolk Sports Club is hosting a forum Monday evening for you.

ODU head coach Ricky Rahne and Virginia Tech coach Brent Pry will both participate in the event Monday at 6 at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott. The forum also includes Norfolk State head coach Dawson Odums and Virginia head coach Tony Elliott.

The Monarchs host the Hokies on Friday. Sept. 2, in Tech's second visit to ODU. The Monarchs upset the nationally-ranked Hokies, 49-35, in 2018 at old Foreman Field. Tech holds a 2-1 lead in the series.

This game will be hosted in S.B. Ballard Stadium, which underwent a $76 million overhaul between the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

The game is expected to sell out to season ticket holders, meaning there will be no tickets sold to the general public. Season tickets are available for as little as $150 for sidelines seats for all six home games, including contests with James Madison, Marshall and Liberty. Ticket wholesalers have tickets priced for the Virginia Tech game alone for as much as $471.

The Tech-ODU game will attract widespread interest, especially in Pennsylvania, in that both are former coordinators at Penn State. Rahne was the offensive coordinator and Pry the defensive coordinator.

ODU also meets U.Va. in Charlottesville on Sept. 17.

ODU and U.Va. met in 2019 and the Monarchs held a 17-14 lead early in the fourth quarter before the Cavaliers rallied to win, 28-17. Virginia plays a return game at ODU in 2028.

Tickets are $26 per person and that includes snacks and soft drinks. There will be a cash bar. Doors open at 5 p.m. for a social with the program set to begin at 6.
