NORFOLK, Va. – Head coach of the Old Dominion men's golf team Murray Rudisill announced today the addition of UNCW transfer and Virginia Beach product Cullen Campbell.
"We're happy to be able to sign another Tidewater golfer for next year," Rudisill said. "Cullen had an outstanding career at Norfolk Academy and has played very well in VSGA events and finished 11th in the Eastern Amateur last summer. We expect him to make an immediate impact on our team starting next fall."
Campbell spent his freshman year at UNCW but did not compete. He joined the Seahawks as an accomplished junior player from Norfolk Academy. While in high school, Campbell was a three-time qualifier for the Virginia State Amateur and reached the quarterfinals of the 2019 Virginia State Golf Association Junior Match Play tournament.
Campbell also competed in the Junior Mid-Atlantic Invitational in both 2019 and 2020 and represented the Commonwealth in the 38th and 39th Carolinas vs. Virginia Boys' Team Matches. In the 2020 edition of the competition, he helped Virginia to a 9-7 win with a 5 & 3 win in his singles match. Campbell logged a fifth-place finish at the VSGA Stroke Play Championship and reached the finals of the VSGA Match Play Championship. Last summer, he earned an 11th-place result at the Eastern Amateur.
Campbell joins Kaijun Ma and Aleksander Bjørge in the Monarchs' 2022 signing class. Click here for more information on Ma and Bjørge.
