NORFOLK, Va. – The infamous Bear Trap at the PGA National Championship Course awaits the Old Dominion women's golf team and the rest of Conference USA as it plays host to the C-USA Championship, which runs Monday through Wednesday in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
The women's golf championship is a 54-hole stroke-play tournament. The team champion receives an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament, and the individual champion does as well provided she is not a member of the first-place team.
The Monarchs placed fifth at last year's edition of the C-USA Championship. Jana Melichova was the individual runner-up a year ago, finishing one shot behind North Texas' Audrey Tan with a score of 208 (-8). The senior from Pikovice, Czech Republic also finished in the top-10 at the 2019 conference championship. Joining Melichova in the top-five last season was Leah Onosato, who carded a 214 to tie for fourth.
ODU is coming off a T6th finish at the Indiana Invitational. Melichova bounced back from an opening-round 78 with scores of 69-72 on day two to finish tied for second.
