Onosato, Torre, Busey Earn C-USA All-Academic Honors

DALLAS – Leah Onosato, Federica Torre and Sarah Busey of the Old Dominion women's golf team received All-Academic Team recognition from Conference USA, the conference announced on Friday afternoon. Onosato and Torre both landed on the first team, while Busey was honored on the second team.
 
All three Monarchs boast perfect 4.0 grade point averages. Onosato is majoring in English, and Torre is a leadership major. Busey is pursuing her master's degree in sport management.
 
Torre (74.0) and Onosato (75.63) are second and third, respectively, on the team in stroke average this season. Torre claimed first place, and her first collegiate victory, at the Badger Invitational with a score of 213 (-3) and added another top-10 at The Show at Spanish Trail. Onosato finished one stroke behind Torre at the Badger Invitational for the second runner-up finish of her career. Busey placed in a tie for 21st at the Bryan National Collegiate behind a season-best 72 in the final round.
 
To be eligible for the All-Academic First Team, nominees must have sophomore class standing, a 3.9 cumulative grade point average and have participated in 75 percent of their respective team's scheduled tournaments this season. Candidates should be a sophomore class standing. First Team All-Academic honors are automatically awarded to the nominees with the top-five highest GPAs. Second Team nominees most hold a 3.75 GPA or higher.
 
The Monarchs now prepare for the Conference USA Championship. The championship runs April 18-20 at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
