DALLAS – After making the most of the first weekend start of his career, freshman left-hander Blake Morgan of the Old Dominion baseball team received Pitcher of the Week honors from Conference USA, the league announced on Monday.
Morgan dazzled on Friday night against UTSA, spinning six shutout innings while striking out 10 to set personal bests in both categories. The native of Marlton, New Jersey allowed just three hits and did not issue a walk.
The weekly honor is the first of Morgan's career. He becomes the second Monarch to receive conference recognition this season, joining two-time hitter of the week Andy Garriola.
ODU faces fifth-ranked Virginia on Tuesday at 6 p.m. before staying on the road for three games at UAB Thursday through Saturday.
