NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion women's rowing team returns to action this weekend in the 39th annual Memorial Murphy Cup in Philadelphia hosted by Temple University on the Schuylkill River.
The Monarchs will compete in the women's varsity 4+ and 8+ events. In both races, the Monarchs will face off with 15 other schools from along the eastern seaboard.
Their 2022 season started last weekend at the San Diego Crew Classic with a strong showing in its opening races.
The Monarchs competed in two events – the Cal Cup (Varsity 8+) and the College Varsity 4+ and came away with a seventh-place finish, along with improving times in all races.
In the Cal Cup, the Monarchs opened in Heat 1 with a fourth-place finish in 7:23.356. That put them into the Final 2 race where they won in 7:00.093 for a seventh-place overall finish.
The College Varsity 4+ saw them in Heat 1 again and came in sixth in 8:39.475. That put them into the Final 2 race where they finished sixth in 8:34.173.
