No. 31 Women's Tennis Returns Home To Face East Carolina Saturday

NORFOLK, Va. – The 31st-ranked Old Dominion women's tennis team returns to the home courts of the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center on Saturday for a 1 p.m. match against East Carolina.
 
ODU (12-6) is coming off a 2-1 swing through the Northeast last weekend defeating Navy (5-2) and 43rd-ranked Columbia (4-0), while losing to 56th-ranked Princeton (4-3).
 
Yuliia Starodubtseva leads the Monarchs in singles this spring with a 14-1 record. Ranked 28th nationally, Starodubtseva was just named Conference USA Athlete of the Week after a 3-0 weekend including a win over the top-ranked player in the country from Princeton. Sofia Johnson is next with a 12-6 singles mark, while Tatsiana Sasnouskaya (11-5) and Alexandra Viktorovich (10-2) are right behind.
 
In doubles, the Monarchs are headed by the third-ranked duo in the country as Starodubtseva and Sasnouskaya are 6-3 this spring. Johnson and Viktorovich are 4-0 together at the number two spot.
 
East Carolina is 4-11 on the year after defeating North Carolina Central 6-1 on Wednesday. Alisha Hussain leads the team in spring singles wins with seven, while Ines Bachir is next with six. In doubles, the duo of Anne Lou Champion and Isabella Rivera Ortiz leads this spring with five wins.
 
The Monarchs lead the all-time series with ECU 5-0, winning the last meeting 7-0 in 2017.
 
Following ECU, the Monarchs will return to the home courts on April 8 to take on VCU.
