NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University sailing completed its opening weekend with a pair of events both in Norfolk and at Georgetown.
ODU placed sixth at the ODU Women's Regatta. The Division A team of Elizabeth Gildea and Allison Volk earned three top five finishes to place 11th overall.
The Division B squad of Megan Geith, Katherine Barton and Alivia Markham also had three top five spots including a race win.
ODU finished with a 5-7 race record. Bridget Groble, Jack Glenn, Parker Purrington and Rider Odom were the skippers, while Ethan Tutt, Makalynne Dyer and Isabelle Kanach were crew. The Monarchs earned three wins over Fordham and single wins apiece over George Washington and Hobart and William.
The Monarchs compete in a trio of events next weekend at College of Charleston, St. Mary's and Navy Team Race.
