NORFOLK, Va. – The 24th-ranked Old Dominion women's tennis team ran its home court winning streak to 30 on Sunday afternoon with a 7-0 win over Harvard at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
Doubles saw the Monarchs take wins at the top two spots to clinch the team point. Alexandra Viktorovich and Sofia Johnson got the first win at number two doubles with a 6-1 victory, while the fifth-ranked tandem of Yuliia Starodubtseva and Tatsiana Sasnouskaya won 6-2 at number one.
In singles, the Monarchs clinched the match with victories by Alcaide, Starodubtseva and Sasnouskaya who lost a combined four games in eight sets. Alcaide won 6-0, 6-1 at number five, while Starodubtseva won 6-0, 6-1 at the top spot. Sasnouskaya won 6-1, 6-1 at number two to give ODU a 4-0 lead.
Viktorovich, ranked 80th nationally, continued the run with a 6-4, 6-0 win at number three to give the Monarchs a 5-0 advantage.
Alesya Yakubovich took a 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 win at number six before Johnson finished the sweep with a three-set win at number four. After dropping the first set in a tie breaker, Johnson took the second 6-4 and won a 12-10 tie break in the third set.
ODU returns to action on Thursday hosting Kennesaw State at 10 a.m. and then Norfolk State at 5 p.m.
