ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The 30th-ranked Old Dominion women's tennis team started a three-match road swing off on the right foot Thursday with a 5-2 win at Navy.
 
With the win, the Monarchs raised their record to 11-5 on the year and snapped a 12-match Navy home winning streak.
 
In doubles, the Monarchs won with the top two spots to take the team point. Yuliia Starodubtseva and Sofia Johnson teamed up at number one to win 6-2 over Kacey Moore and Jillian Taggart. The point was clinched by the number two duo of Shahar Biran and Alesya Yakubovich with a 7-5 win over Meghanna Komarraju and Katreina Corpuz.  
 
In singles, the Monarchs made quick work to jump out to a 4-0 lead. Marina Alcaide won 6-1, 6-0 at number four and Yakubovich won 6-0, 6-1 at number five to lead 3-0. Starodubtseva clinched the match for ODU with a 6-1, 6-0 win at number one. Tatsiana Sasnouskaya closed out the scoring for ODU with a 6-3, 6-3 win at number two.
 
The Monarchs now head to Princeton for a 3 p.m. match on Friday with the 58th-ranked Tigers.
