LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty scored the first nine goals of the game against Old Dominion University lacrosse on its way to an 18-7 win over the Monarchs on Wednesday evening in Lynchburg.
Liberty (2-1) jumped out to the 8-0 lead in the first quarter and made it 9-0 with a goal from Mackenzie Lehman early in the second quarter. Tess Meurling got Old Dominion (2-4) on the board with three minutes left in the quarter and after an LU goal, Lilly Siskind scored as time expired to make the score 10-2 at halftime.
Siskind scored the first goal of the third quarter, but the Flames countered with a goal by Cami Merkel. ODU followed with three-straight goals from Corrinne Stratton, Callie Culhane and Moira Olexa to cut the deficit to 13-6.
LU came back with two-straight goals before a Payton Kisling goal, her first of the season, stopped the run. Liberty scored three more goals for the 18-7 final.
Jenna Peccia got the loss in goal and made 16 saves.
ODU returns home to host Campbell on Saturday, March 5 at noon.
