NORFOLK, Va. – Down 8-2 early in the second quarter, Old Dominion University lacrosse cut the score to 12-11 at the end of the third quarter but fell to American 17-13 Sunday afternoon at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex.
 
Trailing by six in the second quarter Lilly Siskind went to work for Old Dominion (3-6). Siskind scored her first of the day to make the score 8-3 and after a Stefanie Walsh goal Siskind notched another to make the score 9-4. Katie Pierce scored for American (4-3) to make the score 10-4, but Siskind made it 10-5, followed with back-to-back goals from Corrinne Stratton to make the score 10-7. Siskind notched the first goal of the third quarter to push ODU closer at 10-8 and Caroline Shaefer netted her first of the day to make the score 10-9.
 
American pushed back with back-to-back goals from Walsh, but Siskind came through again to cut the lead to 12-10 and Shaefer made it 12-11 to end the third quarter.
 
The Eagles scored the first three goals of the final stanza to push their lead to 15-11 before Payton Kisling scored her second goal of the year to cut the gap to 15-12. American scored two more from Emma Hare and Becca Frank to push its lead to 17-12. Shaefer recorded her third goal of the game, but it wasn't enough for the Monarchs.
 
Siskind scored a career-high six goals for ODU and Shaefer registered her first career hat trick. 
 
ODU outshot American 39-24 and had led in draw controls 20-14.
 
Walsh also had six goals for American, while Frank had three goals.
 
Jenna Peccia suffered the loss in goal making six saves. Mary Alice Collins earned the win for AU with 16 saves.
