NORFOLK, Va. – Sophomore Alexandra Viktorovich picked up a pair of wins, including one over a top 35-ranked opponent, and was named on Wednesday as the Conference USA Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
Viktorovich knocked off 34th-ranked Marlee Zein of No. 13 Florida 6-4, 7-6 (10-8) on Court 3 in a 4-2 ODU loss to 13th-ranked Florida. The Jonkoping, Sweden native followed that by defeating Audrey Boch-Collins 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) at the fourth spot in a dual match against No. 23 Miami.
This is the second straight week that ODU has won the Player of the Week honor as Yuliia Starodubtseva took the honor last week.
"Players receiving recognition for their hard work, especially at the conference level, is special. It's great to see Alex receive the weekly honor from the league," said ODU Head Coach Dominic Manilla.
The Monarchs are next in action on Friday at 4:30 pm against fifth-seeded Pepperdine at the 2021 ITA Indoor National Championships in Madison, Wisconsin.
