NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men's basketball team takes on its second opponent in this three-game stretch by visiting Middle Tennessee on Thursday night for a Conference USA East Division showdown.
Old Dominion enters the contest after falling 81-62 on Tuesday night to Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, Florida. Austin Trice topped the Monarchs recording his seventh double-double of the season with 19 points and 14 rebounds.
C.J. Keyser leads the Monarchs in scoring averaging 14.8 points per game, while Trice is second in scoring (12.4 ppg) and leads in rebounding (8.3 rpg). Kalu Ezikpe rounds out the double figure scorers for ODU averaging 11.3 points per contest. As a team, the Monarchs are averaging 66.6 ppg and allowing 67.4 per game. They're outrebounding opponents by over three rebounds per game (36.7 to 33.5), while hitting .305 from 3-point range and .676 from the foul line.
Middle Tennessee is currently 15-7 overall and 6-3 in Conference USA after an 84-75 win over UTSA on February 7. The Blue Raiders have won 12 straight home games dating back to the end of the 2020-21 season. Josh Jefferson leads them in scoring at 14 points per game, while Donovan Sims is second scoring (11.3 ppg) and leads in assists (2.5 apg). Eli Lawrence rounds out the double figure scorers for the Blue Raiders at 10.1 ppg. DeAndre Dishman leads them in rebounding at 4.5 per game.
As a team, they're averaging 75.1 ppg and allowing 68.0. They're hitting .451 from the floor, .320 from 3-point range and .742 from the foul line. Middle Tennessee is averaging 35.1 rebounds per game and allowing 34.0 per contest.
ODU has won the last four meetings between the teams, but trails the all-time series 9-4.
The Monarchs return home to face UAB on Super Bowl Sunday at 2 p.m. in a game nationally-televised on ESPNU.
