NORFOLK, Va. – The 22nd ranked Old Dominion women's tennis team swept Missouri 4-0 in a nonconference matchup on Friday inside the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
The doubles portion saw the Monarchs record wins at number one and three spots in the lineup. At three, Shahar Biran and Marina Alcaide took a 6-1 win over Elys Ventura and Vanentina Vazquez. The team point was clinched by the fifth-ranked tandem of Tatsiana Sasnouskaya and Yuliia Starodubtseva with a 6-3 win over Bronte Murgett and Gabriela Martinez.
In singles, ODU recorded straight set wins at numbers two, four and five for the 4-0 win. Alcaide got the first win at number five with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Romary Cardenas. Sasnouskaya, ranked 125th nationally, pulled a 6-2, 6-2 win over Emelie Schwarte at number two for a 3-0 advantage.
Sofia Johnson clinched the dual match win for ODU at number four singles with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Martinez.
ODU (6-5) returns to action on Sunday afternoon with a 3 p.m. matchup against the University of Pennsylvania.
