Lacrosse Falls at William & Mary, 18-11

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary scored eight goals in the third quarter to break open a one goal game and defeated Old Dominion University lacrosse 18-11 Wednesday night in Williamsburg.
 
The Tribe (2-2) led 7-6 at halftime and scored the first seven goals of the third quarter before a Maddie Mullenbach goal cut the streak to make it a 14-7 deficit.
 
W&M added two more goals before Mullenbach and Tess Meurling cut the Tribe's lead to 16-11. W&M notched two goals in the final two minutes and 30 seconds for the final tally.
 
Caroline Shaefer got Old Dominion (1-3) on the board early in the first quarter to tie the score at one.
 
Ali Mills gave ODU a 2-1 lead but W&M scored two-straight to take a 3-2 lead. Callie Culhane tied the score again with the first goal of her collegiate career.
 
Belle Martire scored a pair of goals and Paige Gilbert added one for the Tribe to take a 6-3 lead, but Jessica Pisani added a goal for a 6-4 lead. Sarah Cipolla scored a goal for W&M, but Moira Olexa had two goals within two minutes of each other to make the score 7-6 at halftime.
 
The Monarchs are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 26 at Longwood.
