NORFOLK, Va. – Coming off a 2-0 week with a win over a nationally-ranked opponent, Francois Le Tallec was named Conference USA Men's Tennis Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Wednesday afternoon.
Le Tallec, ranked 64th nationally, saw action at the top two singles spots in his matches last week. Against Auburn last Wednesday, he scored a 6-3, 6-2 win over the 47th-ranked Tyler Stice to garner the only point for the Monarchs.
In ODU's second match at the ITA Kickoff Weekend against Western Michigan, Le Tallec pulled a 7-5, 6-4 win at number two singles to help lead the Monarchs to a 4-2 win.
"I'm very proud of Francois' toughness last week," said ODU Head Coach Dominik Mueller. "To come back from knee surgery and beat two quality opponents, one nationally-ranked, in straight sets is very impressive.
The men are back in action this weekend as they visit New York City for a pair of matches starting on Saturday afternoon facing Columbia. They'll end the trip taking on St. John's on Sunday.
