MADISON, WISC. – The eighth-ranked Texas A&M Aggies defeated the 17th-ranked Old Dominion women's tennis team 4-1 on Saturday afternoon in the second round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Indoor National Championships at the University of Wisconsin.
In doubles, the Aggies won at number one and two spots to take the team point.
Singles saw the Monarchs take a team point at number four where Sofia Johnson defeated Jayci Goldsmith 7-6 (8-6), 6-4. The Aggies won at number one, two and five to clinch the match. Alesya Yakubovich dropped a three-set match at number five singles falling 3-6, 6-4, 3-6 to Gianna Pielet for the eventual clincher.
Old Dominion (3-4) will close out the event on Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. against either USC or host Wisconsin.
