Women's Tennis Starts ITA Indoor Nationals With Pepperdine

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women's tennis team opens play on Friday afternoon in the 2022 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Indoor National Championships at the University of Wisconsin. The Monarchs will tangle with fifth-seeded Pepperdine at 4:30 p.m. EST.
 
Old Dominion is in the same quarterfinal draw with fourth-seeded California and Texas A&M. The Monarchs will face either of those teams, depending on the outcome, on Saturday.  Cal is currently ranked fourth nationally, while Texas A&M is eighth.
 
Pepperdine is currently ranked fifth in the ITA Coaches Poll and has all six singles players ranked in the top-90, along with three doubles pairings in the top-35. The Waves garnered their first ranked win of the year with a 5-2 win over #19 UCLA on February 5 and are currently 3-1 on the season.
 
Old Dominion (3-2) ventured outside for its last two matches falling to 13th-ranked Florida (4-2) and 20th-ranked Miami (4-3) in the Sunshine State. The Monarchs now boast the top-ranked doubles team in the latest ITA rankings with Yuliia Starodubtseva and Tatsiana Sasnouskaya. Both are ranked in the top 55 in singles with Staroudbtseva 47th and Sasnouskaya 53rd.
