NORFOLK, Va. – Sophomore reliever Noah Dean of the Old Dominion baseball team was honored as a Third Team Preseason All-American by D1Baseball, the publication announced on Monday.

Dean made 19 appearances out of the bullpen in 2021, racking up nine saves with 44 strikeouts over 21.1 innings en route to Conference USA All-Freshman Team honors. Dean was tied for the conference lead and ranked 27th nationally in saves last season and had the second-most strikeouts by a reliever on the team. The native of Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey recorded a strikeout in 17 of his 19 appearances and fanned at least two batters 15 times, including four four-strikeout outings.

Dean becomes the second Monarch to garner preseason all-America accolades this year. He joins Carter Trice, who was named a Second Team All-American by both Collegiate Baseball and Perfect Game/Rawlings.

The 24th-ranked Monarchs begin the season with a three-game series against Iona at the Bud Metheny Baseball Stadium starting Friday, Feb. 18. Click here for the full 2022 ODU baseball schedule.
