KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Old Dominion men's tennis team opened play in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Kickoff Weekend event and lost a 4-0 dual to top-ranked Tennessee on Friday afternoon.
In doubles, the Volunteers took wins at number one doubles (6-1) and number three doubles (6-2) to take the team point. Tennessee, with four ranked singles players in their top five, scored wins at number two (6-1, 6-4), number four (6-1, 6-1) and number five (6-1, 6-3) to clinch the match.
At number two, Younes Lalami who is ranked 91st took on 10th-ranked Johannus Monday and took five games in the loss.
Old Dominion (1-2) will face Western Michigan at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning to conclude action in the event.
