De Bruijne, Le Jeune Named to NFHCA All-South Region Teams

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Marlon de Bruijne and Delphine Le Jeune of the Old Dominion field hockey team received recognition from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association on Tuesday. De Bruijne was named First Team All-South Region, while Le Jeune earned a spot on the all-region second team.

The BIG EAST Co-Freshman of the Year, de Bruijne was the nation's leading freshman in goals (15) and total points (32). The native of Den Bosch, Netherlands was voted to the All-BIG EAST First Team as well as the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team after helping the Monarchs to a second-consecutive BIG EAST final. She was named the NFHCA Offensive Player of the Week on March 3 after scoring seven goals in a pair of games against Villanova, including a four-goal effort to match the single-season high in Division I this season.
 
Delphine Le Jeune | So. | M/B | Ghent, Belgium
A fellow first-year Monarch, Le Jeune was an immediate impact starter in the heart of ODU's midfield. The native of Ghent, Belgium was a consensus First Team All-BIG EAST honoree and a member of the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team. She started in all 14 games and was third on the team with 14 points (four goals, six assists). Le Jeune was a perfect 2-for-2 from the penalty spot and scored the game-winner from the spot against Quinnipiac on April 9. She notched four points in a game three times, including in back-to-back contests against Quinnipiac and Providence near the end of the regular season.

The NFHCA divides Division I teams into five regions. Each region honors 16 student-athletes on a first team and 16 on a second team.

The NFHCA will continue to announce postseason honors throughout the month of June. On June 7 the organization will crown its regional players of the year. The NFHCA National Player of the Year and All-American teams will be revealed live during the NFHCA Awards Show on June 15 at 7 p.m.
